On NS2 and in the GUI under "Network Services" / "DNS" turn on detailed logging. It's an option at the bottom of one of the tabs. Then do a "nslookup" again while you're watching the output of "tail -f /var/log/messages". That should shed some light on the issue, as Bind will then report a little more verbose about the nature of the problem. A word of warning, though: Be really sure to turn the detailed logging back off again when you're done. The amount of log entries it generates is quite excessive.
