Hi again, Almost forgot: there were also problems sending mail with TLS because the four certificate-related lines in sendmail.mc were commented out with "dnl"s, even when SMTPS was enabled in the server desktop. This resulted in errors such as:
STARTTLS=server: 4580:error:140BA0C3:SSL routines:SSL_new:null ssl ctx:ssl_lib.c:299: Internet searches suggested that it might have been due to an overly generous UNIX permission problem regarding the certificate files, but since sendmail had no idea where to look for the certs, I suppose it didn’t get that far but had a similar result.
