I have been having some strange DNS errors lately and it sent me down a rabbit hole to find the problem. I removed whole zones and re-added them manually among other drastic steps but it took forever to find the problem. Which I have now sort of done.
To make a very long story short when I check the zone with: named-checkzone ciic.com /var/named/chroot/var/named/db.ciic.com I get this as the result. dns_master_load: /var/named/chroot/var/named/db.ciic.com:37: db.ciic.com.include: file not found zone ciic.com/IN: loading from master file /var/named/chroot/var/named/db.ciic.com failed: file not found zone ciic.com/IN: not loaded due to errors. This error says that db.ciic.com.include cannot be found. However the file is clearly present. I checked it and it is empty. I never touched it. But if I edit the main zone file /var/named/chroot/var/named/db.ciic.com and comment out the include then the zone works. named-checkzone ciic.com /var/named/chroot/var/named/db.ciic.com zone ciic.com/IN: loaded serial 2020050908 OK Nothing I do in the GUI works however. Once I make a change in the GUI it will remove the comment I made and the zone will fail again. Anyone seen this or have any ideas? This is on an up-to-date 5209R Thanks, ______________________________ M Aronoff Out - <mailto:maron...@gmail.com> maron...@gmail.com I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it. - <http://www.quotationspage.com/quote/31912.html> Thomas Jefferson
