Brian,

You are experiencing the well known IE6 duplicate character bug.  It
happens when you have multiple comments in between the first and last
of a series of floated elements.  The first two comments have no
effect, but each subsequent comment causes two characters to be
duplicated.  The easiest and safest solution is to remove comments
from your HTML code.  I too like to comment my code, but it raises
hell with IE6.
