You are correct. I added a bunch of artificial whitespace to the first
page and it was the scrollbar that shifted the page. I did not even
consider the possibility that it was the scrollbar doing this, but now
my mind can finally be at peace. I might consider lengthening the home
page a bit so that the scroll bar appears every time. I wish browsers
subtracted scrollbar width when centering a page, but oh well.

Yes, I will fix this. I was wondering if prepend was the correct thing
to use.
