Thanks K. That helps. Whereas I understand that this is not a bp issue per se and that those solutions are a matter of a Google query, I feel that the solutions suggested are some tricks I am not sure if I should like. For one, many of them actually make me change my layout in that the footer is to be taken out of the .container. If this is such a common requirement (that many people seem to be running into it), I was searching for the "bp way" of doing that. If there isn't one, yeah, I will have to succumb to doing CSS tricks to make it work :(
