Hello, Shawn I might be misinterpreting what you are asking, but if you are looking for a way to extend background colors/graphics of a section (e.g header, footer, main content, etc.) beyond the edges of Blueprint's container, while still keeping the actual content itself within the 950px boundaries, then this blog entry might be helpful:
