Hi Adrian,
In the hospital I work at here in the UK, we have a bit of a
mix bag.

A&E - Laerdal LSU's
Paeds - Devilbiss 7305
Medical/Surgical Wards - Eschmann VP-35/ VP-25
Theatre Recovery- Boscarol

Standardisation would be better for PPm purposes.

Regards

Dom

[bmelist] Patient Suction Units

Hi A little while back I asked a question about suction units, I thought in may
be worthwhile summarising the responses.
There are a number of devices out there being used, common ones being:
Laerdal LSU's Clements (possibly Hivac and Hiflo models) Devilbiss 7305's
(common in the paediatric setting) Medela Clario
Some hospitals seem to have made a conscious choice ie are standardised, others
have an unstructured mix that happens by default, like ourselves..
In addition to the above I am aware of a the Vacumax unit and the S-Scort duet,
both of which are seeing some use.
We have divided our patients into approx 5 categories ranging from low use (<3
uses/day) to high end (>20/day) including a need to be compact/portable in some
instances. We are hoping to get it down to 2 standardised units, trials will be
commencing shortly (I hope).
Adrian
