Dear Colleagues, I was asked by my boss to forward to you his message, concerning recent conversation on BME List. Here is what he wrote: Gentlemen,   the following conversation or chat was brought to my attention on your biomeds site:   “Gents,             I don't know if any of you have particitpated in this survey, but i have a feeling it is probablly some kind of scam designed to extract your bank details from you? Anybody had any experiences HBS consultancy so far?   Regards   Dom That  was my suspicion also.   They have a fairly significant web presence and I didnt come across any negative reports about them though.   Even still I didnt participate ;)   Bernie  “   Although I cannot receive any answers from your site I would like to point out the following.   HBS Consulting is one of the leading strategic Marketing Consulting companies working for customers such as Johnson & Johnson, Tyco Healthcare (now Covidien) GE Healtcare, Kimberly Clark, Siemens, Philips, BC, KCI, Stryker to name just a few. HBS is not in the “extract banking details for a scam” business. In order to pay our incentives we ask for an account number, something that seems to evoke panic in the English speaking world due to the fear of fraud. Gentlemen, how would anybody be able to send you any money if you would not disclose your bank account number (a cheque would incur substantial cost to be cashed as it is a foreign cheque by necessity). Further how could your account number be misused, if no passwords or PINs or anything were disclosed? With your bank account number there is only a one way track = into your account and not out (Maybe you would like to consult your bank on that.) In any case nobody forced you to participate, but I would in future enquire possibly to the contacts on the website (which one of you successfully detected) or any other means open to academics. I do admit way are far to Down Under, but in the days of modern communication……. In fact we are not trying to extract anything from you or sell anything to you, but try to pay you for 30 minutes of your expertise.
