Thanks Owen for bringing this up.
 
We have done this type of cost-based analysis to improve BME services in the 
past and it always comes down to analyzing the 'Life Cycle Cost' of any BME 
device. However, this requires cross-facility benchmarking to determine the 
standard of service and service-quality as applicable industry-wide.
 
That is the reason I use and recommend performance based measure of quality 
such as 'Lean Six Sigma'.
