My personal view is that they are NOT a piece of medical equipment.

A conventional power lift bed does not is not part of the treatment of the
patient.

They should be considered no more a piece of electrical equipment within the
patient treatment area than a bedside lamp or a radio.

The argument that they are used to "treat" the patient could also be applied to
the room lighting.

If the patient was to be treated on the floor would that then make the building
"medical" equipment.
