In Europe, there are three radios available for the E36: the BMW Reverse, BMW Business and BMW Professional (the last with or without CD). BMW NA appears to have copied the general features of the middle radio, and the name as well. - -John '96 318is - -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2001 06:20:17 -0400 (EDT) From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (John Hart) Subject: [uuc] lost posting of "to a good home.."? Mike: Back in Sept. '99, my mechanic installed a rebuilt head that I got from Bavarian Engine Exchange (Roundel advertiser). I opted for the performance head (port-polished & cam). That was 24k ago and I have always used a Jim C. chip, still going strong. At the time, I had some issues with them delivering as promised, but they made up for it. I think I just had bad luck with them. So, I cautiously recommend them. Their products are on target for price. Worth checking out. Alignment issues will wear a larger tire just as fast of faster. If the wear is caused by the tire pushing hard on the ground from high powered driving, a wider tire will wear longer. If you're tearing up tires as fast as you seem to be, I would take Mike Lawrence's suggestion and get a set of Kumho Ecsta 712s at $101; they're half the price of the Pilots and longer lasting too I hear. Will they perform as well - no, but they're pretty good. I will probably get some for my wife's Audi S4 Avant. >9. Whatever you're doing here (and with the exhaust) is just chasing a tiny amount of horsepower that you'll barely notice. There will be extra noise so you feel like you're going faster but it will be marginal at best. Sell the 328 and get the car you really want. You're going to continue throwing good money after bad trying to make a 328 into something it can't be. Stop now - either be happy with the compromises of the 328 or ditch it. Make sure the M3 will be everything you expect it to be BEFORE you buy it though. >10. What is the purpose of the little rectangular cut away panel on or >below the rear bumper? But 225/50-16 is plenty of contact patch for a stock-engined E36 325i. It takes the whole motor to break them loose in most conditions. >2. Is this to make drivers think they are >going faster than they are, to stay out of hot water, or like Jaguar, to >simply overstate performance vs. reality? Also the lightest wheel put on any E36. From friends' experiences (remember I have 16s), the standard BMW 17" wheels are pretty soft and, with 40-series tires or less, seem to bend pretty readily. That's hearsay, though. >6. Does fitment of a M3 exhaust to a 3 2.8 engine result in low end >loss of power torque. Ditto for any top-end benefits, but boy it sounds lovely all the way through now! Looks much nicer too. For most applications, that's the most you'll get out of an exhaust (exception: the UUC will save you some weight; the M3 exhaust is porky). >7.
