Here my tips for staying awake: - - Drive somewhat fast/agressive. The G-force's will keep you alert and awake. - - Make a short stop now and then. You don't have to actualy sleep, just lay down 5-30 min until you think you passed out somewhat. - - Prepare yourself before the ride. Good confy clothing, think of the trip before, plan the route in your head. Be mentaly prepared. - - Intake Water water water.. Keeps your head clear. Sugar is 2 way, it makes you awake, but you get tired faster. Avoid junk food, makes you tired (and chubby) - - Timing Always drive at off hours. Laying behind a pack of slow drivers can make you angry and silly takeovers. Driving at nights reduce the risk of speedtrapping, but increase the risk for animals in the way. Use all the road.. - - "Drugs" Coffein; Cocke, Coffy etc Also as seperate pils can be bought. Keeps you awake... Sugar/glucose; Candy and in pure form. Short fast energy. Since you are traveling on Sunday, shouldn't have to worry about traffic other than the tourists heading to the beaches, etc. Unless you are totally masschistic, stay away from 128/95 in the Boston area. Basically a mobile parking lot. The only time I venture inside the 128 beltway is visiting my office on occasion. Won't see you till you get there. From Upstate NY, I go cross country. I would look to see if you actually have voltage running through the AC wiring in the slider switches. Or is that what you meant by "fine"? My car has voltage at the pressure switch but still does not have power at the compressor feed wire even if I jump it. Jumping the compressor works. I would guess that there is a relay but I do not know the location. I think that the button feeds the slider switch that would then feed the LP switch, the HP switch, the temperature switch, the cold inhibitor switch, and then that would then feed a relay before it goes to the compressor. The temperature dial must play a role in this? You should see the shop manual for the 733i's system. 60 pages of "need a NASA engineer to figure this out". %50 of this wheel gives you a certain % of this air motor flap, etc.... As for the hazard light. You should be able to get a jewelers screwdriver or large pin in there to push back the lock tab that allows the connector to come out so you can resolder it. 1st > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Sunday, July 29, 2001 10:17 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [uuc] Here we go again... > > Gentlemen... and ladies... Have you had a look around the slider controls? I imagine this is the only place where you could get abrasion in the wiring harness? What feeds the cigarette lighter? perhaps there is a penny or such in there? Just some ideas. I only have my e28 manual here, one of these days I'll bring in the others so I have no clue as to what all is fed by 10 and 23. Odd that it is getting both of them at once. Have you tried just changing one or the other and not both at the same time? 1st > -----Original Message----- > From: Carey Probst [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Saturday, July 28, 2001 7:29 PM > To: Fuerst, Robert C. (E30 A/C) Joe, I recently did some work on the A/C in my '88 M3, and had an electrical problem I had to overcome to get it going (among other things). On the M3, there is a temperature switch on the thermostat housing (very different from other E30s, AFAIK). This switch had failed, always open, and the clutch engagement depends on this switch closing. You might look for this. I would assume that, even though the location of components might be different, that the electrical designs of the A/C on the cars are similar. Good luck and let us know what you find!
