I want to thank everyone again for taking the time to reply
and offer advice. I appreciate all of it.

First of all, the text below [(it may not be the car, just an understeering driver)]
is definitely applicable. I've been to a
total of three DE's. I'm a rookie. I haven't read up on the subject.
I don't really know what I'm doing or talking about. But I'm working on
it, and this is all part of the experience.

One of the most humble Zen statements I've seen posted about
setting up ones own car.
Since the car discussed was given Bilstein's, I would strongly suggest
the first switch be to
try Koni's. If my prior experiences with stubborn tailed 3 series' is
an indicator,
They may be just the perfect cure for Chris' car's attutude problem.
[(This is not to open a Koni vx. Bilstein argument thread. For
what Chris has and the behavior he reports, this switch may be just
right for what _he wants to do)]

The amount recovered selling a set of slightly used Bilsteins will
make the expense of switching
to Konis much less than the cost of a set of swaybars, even used ones.

Still, the best driving advice I ever got was to learn to make my
car behave how I wanted it too just as it is.
Once you can do that, then when you do modify, the cost is less, and the
you get a much better chance of obtaining the results you want. When
screwing around with suspension mods, please remember you may be taking
your life in your hands.

With all my suspension bolts well torqued,

'jk

The car has had an imbalance present since I picked it up last December,
primarily felt during braking. It was quite disconcerting to brake at
highway speeds. Replacing the thrust arms using 750 bushings really helped
as the vibration was reduced to minor pulsating during braking. The next
step was to have the wheels balanced. I used a local Goodyear place that
had treated my alloy wheels fairly well in the past. Now, following the
balance, the car vibrates heavily under breaking again (like when I first
picked it up).

Have it rebalanced? Suggestions are appreciated. The next item to replace
would be the lower arms (unless someone has a better idea).

Cheers,

Roland

Tom, with any luck you'll get the RC car before you need to replace the
tires on your car again.

Subject: [uuc] FS - E36 seat belt

Hello Group(s),

I bought a passenger front seat belt for my '94 325i because the one I
had was locked up and wouldn't release. As I began to disassemble
things to replace it, it freed up and began working again. Therefore, I
have a new untouched belt, part number 72-11-8-200-846. I figured I
would see if anyone by chance needed one before I see if I can send it
back. I got it shipped from Pacific BMW, so I'd just as soon ship it to
someone who needs it.

If you think you do, check out to make sure the part number is correct
first. There seemed to be a couple of options around the time frame
this car was built. It will include various bolts, etc., that the
dealer said I could reuse but I ordered anyway. I paid $62 for the belt
plus shipping. Make me a decent offer and it's yours.

Thanks,
Chris Baker

Scott,
I'm pretty sure the RC car will arrive before I wear out the Yokos - hopeful
anyway - I'm really pretty easy on tires..

Bill Gosma and I spent some time trying to track down the noise coming from
the rear of my 1990 325i. After much poking, proding, listening with a
stethescope (thanks Darrel), jacking things up and down, etc etc, we
narrowed it down to the LR wheel bearing. In fact, if I had thought to
simply grab the wheel and tire and push and pull it a bit, I would have
known that without all the other work. Oh well, guess I've got another
project.

Yeah, when I was building my '88 325 into a race car I reasoned that I
wanted the wheel bearings to be in really good shape. I replaced all of 'em
whether I thought they needed it or not. Never had a lick of trouble with
'em then. Did the same with the CV joints in the rear also. (not that I'd
make subtle hints or anything)

Geeeze
