that's a bad example: the Android Viewer is in the core.git repository.
there is no practical way to "move it to the attic" - in the
hypothetical case, i'm pretty sure it would be considered too much
effort to disentangle a dead project from core.git and there would just
be a commit that deletes the code, as has happened for multiple large
pieces of obsolete code in the past (just this year i happily deleted 2
WebDAV UCPs).
