Dave,

I'm not at OSCON this year but here's a talk I gave last month at the
Swiss Open Cloud Day at the University of Bern:

We're essentially ready to go but as the OCI's not a standards
development organisation (SDO) — even if I'm personally involved in
standards development — we need one or more dominant standards to
emerge before we can certify and promote them.

I've done some preliminary work on an "SMTP for the cloud" that should
bear fruit soon... that could be interesting in encouraging
portability without having to standardise everything (similarly,
Notes, Exchange, etc. expose their own proprietary APIs for
clients/management/etc. while using a relatively rudimentary protocol
for interoperability).

Thanks for the invitation — hopefully one of my fellow board members
(copied) will be in town and able to give a quick update/overview.

Cheers,

Sam
