I haven't started on checking anything yet, Mark. I did check the finals to
make sure they were ok and I have an extra set I can use later if needed. One
issue I see is when the VOX switch in place in the PTT/STNDBY position, the
transmit relay energizes. I will let the group know what I find in the days
ahead. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The radio has gotten hi reviews so
I an glad to have it and look forward to restoring it.

On some of the older Yaesu radios there was an octal socket that required a
plug with a jumper to be plugged in, I cannot remember if that was I order for
the radio to operate in general or to transmit. I think it was to operate in
general but a look at the schematic would tell. It could be a weak tube, either
an oscillator or driver/final tube. Is the high voltage present on the final
tubes? Is there current draw on the final tubes when the transmitter is
activated?
