> The problem here is a need to constantly redefine the reference machine. > No prob with that at all. It's just a way all physical measure units live. Etalon of meter was replaced by length that light passes for corresponding fraction of second and second itself constantly get redefined as we achieve more stable and easy reproducible clocks.
Reference PC will continue to work until its death. Surely it should be not single PC, it should be group of PC to survive suddenly death of etalon. When new host will introduced to etalon group it passes calibration agains already working ones then it can be used as etalon by itself. That way all precise measuring instruments calibrated. But just imagine, no more flaming about why this project has one multiplier and another has another multiplier.... It's worth for projects to buy few PCs and maintain them connected to BOINC IMO ;) _______________________________________________ boinc_dev mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ssl.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/boinc_dev To unsubscribe, visit the above URL and (near bottom of page) enter your email address.
