I would give the option to the user.  Like the control over network being 
separate from the control over the CPU adding GPU only controls allows me to 
turn off the GPU and yet leave the CPU side running.  Wanting to do both I 
would check both, wanting to do either I would select only the one I wanted.

I vote for separate CPU and GPU controls.
