Hello I'm using Boinc 6.10.18 on Windows XP service pack 3. The problem I tell here is also present in older versions.
Because of some circumstances, from time to time my PC's electrical power gets down suddenly. When it gets back and the PC is booted again, I notice Boinc begins to download new workunits for my projects (Einstein, Seti and LHC). Some files already exists on the disk, so Boinc skips them. The matter is all the work done with those units is lost. I think the reason for this is some files get corrupted/lost. I have also noticed that when I defrag my hard-disk (I use Kessels's defrag) it's better previously to shut down Boinc. Some files may get broken. Even some times XP on booting, launches CHKDSK and finds problems on some workunits files. I suspect all of this comes from keeping files opened, instead of "open-write-close" repeated sequence. Thanks Manolo _______________________________________________ boinc_dev mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ssl.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/boinc_dev To unsubscribe, visit the above URL and (near bottom of page) enter your email address.
