There is a tension between the "Fire and forget" class of user and the "Power
User" which has never been addressed.

The first class is the only one whose needs are considered and for them the
current resource scheduler works reasonably well. Yes we can continue to tweak
it and make it better ... and should ...

But, there is the other class which has the need for tools and capabilities
that allow them to control BOINC with finer granularity. Yes there is the risk
that they may set conditions that BOINC will not be able to meet. But that is
the argument for keeping knives dull so you don't cut yourself ...

Allowing the user to set a project to "Run only x task(s) at a time" may indeed
cause deadlines to be missed. In my case, not a chance... maybe it will cause
RS to be unmet, but RS has been pushed so far down the list of things to be
considered that it is almost meaningless ...

The point really is that the human mind is one of the best computers going and
some users truly do know what they are doing and can see configurations that
are more optimum... and if they are not ... well, why are we being Nanny's?
