Turns out that I'll have to do a minor change to the UI to do what I wanted with this particular preference item. I put my proposed changes as comments in Trac #991: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/ticket/991#comment:3 I'd like some feedback on that layout change before I try to implement it (I don't want to waste time with code if you don't agree with the *idea*).
