Something that puzzled me for a while:

A couple of BOINC codes (I've noticed web pages, but am sure this is not
limited to these) rely on the app table providing an entry for each
application referred to in workunit, result and application version
table (possibly more).

However the "manage applications" OPS pages allows to delete
applications, suggesting that this is the "correct" way to get rid of
applications (instead of just deprecating).

IMO the "manage applications" should be changed in a way such that either
- the deletion option is removed altogether
- before deleting an application all other tables should be checked for
references to that application

Similar would apply to the deletion option of the "manage application
versions" page.

Best,
Bernd
