1) Is every file required to be listed in the version.xml file?  That
could get unwieldy for applications with lots of supporting files.

2) Will this work with applications that have subdirectories?  (I
believe that was a new feature in a recent BOINC client*)

3) This is way out of scope most likely - but would anyone else find
it useful to have built-in support for bundling application files and
automatically unzipping them on the client?  For applications with a
lot of small files it reduces network roundtrips and bandwith
considerably.**

But otherwise, cool - I agree as it stands it is messy.

* I ended up implementing this myself, but it's probably non-portable
as it stands, it's definitely ugly as sin, and I winded up not using
it in favor of #3.
** I have an app with 213MB of files, that's 1.7MB 7zipped.  I
distribute a 32bit version of 7z and use the wrapper to unzip it in
the beginning.
