In a similar vein ......... I have some 200 machines too.. Apart from an msi I can install via Group Policy.... :-) As the machines are on the domain, I want them to display the screen savers when there is nobody logged in. Trying the pique the interest of our students.... When installed as a service .. would be "way cool" if it updated the screen saver on the login screen.... (is the user the Default user ?) I managed to do this with some registry editing, but I get error messages when the screen saver appears. Nor can I access the screen saver settings .. time outs and so on. When installing as a service it would be nice if I could have an option to control the login screen, screen savers. I notice you guys are working on the gui.. Can we please have a look at this. Hello,
You can add the BOINC install to the batch:
[your
path]\boinc_6.12.33_windows_x86_64.exe /v"REBOOT=ReallySupress /passive
ENABLEPROTECTEDAPPLICATIONEXECUTION2=1"
You also want to remove the startup registry key:
reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" /v
boincmgr /f
and start the service:
net start BOINC
I have installed about 80 clients this way. Regards,
Patricio.

Re: [boinc_dev] Custom Windows Install
Probably the easiest way to do this would be to run the standard
installer and install as a service.
After install run a batch file that deletes boincmgr.exe and drop two
pre-configured files (acct_mgr_url.xml, acct_mgr_login.xml) in the BOINC
data directory (C:\ProgramData\BOINC).
You could also delete the skins directory and locale directory in the
executables directory (C:\Program Files\BOINC).
You can see how the two files should be formatted here:

Subject: [boinc_dev] Custom Windows Install
(Originally posted by myself in the BOINC forums)
Hello,
I'm the sysadmin of 3 computer labs (about 120 computers, maybe more
if I can add support from other admins).
I don't want that some users (because som apps require admin
privileges) can access or modify boinc settings, so I can manage them
remotely by BAM.
So I wonder if it's posible to create a custom client install that
doesn't install the manager, only the client in service mode,
configured to auto atach to a BAM account.
I've readed the wiki and it seems thar the autoattach and service mode
can be done, it seems that you cannot install only the client (at
least in windows seems to be that way in linux there is no problem).
Is there any way to do this without building my own windows installer?
Regards
Israel
