Hi, I asked Flattr directly and I will send you the discussion, and Marie asked for get in contact with us. Seems promising :).
Ticket #4203 - Forum activation link not send Created: 2011-09-10 10:02 Name: Aerospaceresearch.net Original message Hi flattr Team, I tried for some time now to get the activation link to my account of the same name aerospaceresearch.net. I have used the resend option but this failed and sending an email to [email protected] came back because of rejection of you server. I wanted to ask there if it is possible to get an api so that we can also include flattr to boinc donations sites with specific items and confirmation processes. Aerospaceresearch.net/constellation/donations.php Best regards, Andreas Replies to this message Reply from: Marie Axelsson at 2011-09-12 11:17 Hi Andreas! Sorry about the troubles with the forum. The deal is that we're not keeping the forum, and we should have close the signups a while ago but for some reason it go lost. We're going to set up and following Stack Overflow tagged Flattr instead. And the information about it is going live today, so you're the first to know! ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/flattr empty right now! ) About your question: I'm trying to figure out if it would be possible. But I need a bit more info from you: How would you want the donations to be handled, via you, or that the receivers would get an account on their own? There's some new stuff coming up in the API and we're discussing what to add from the needs of the community, so it will help to know what more specifically you're trying to do! *Reply from: aerospaceresearch.net at 2011-09-12 17:53 * Hi, yeah, first1! ;) Will http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/flattr also be for questionslike mine, because it's not really technical. We are BOINC project and there is a standard webpage and systems for donations. as you can see here http://aerospaceresearch.net/constellation/donations.phpthere are several items we would like to buy and users can donate to. when a user is loged in, then he can go there and chose an amount of money to donate via paypal. He can do that anonym or signed with his nickname. when he chose an item and amount of money, he can process this and will be send to paypal. Therfore Instant Payment Notification (IPN) has to be set in the projects paypal account. When we receive paypal transaction this will be confirmed by paypal and send pack to our website, so that it can also be confirmed in our database. afterwards the corrected sum (minus fees and stuff) and some data (sender paypal email, username from our site, donation item, etc) is send and stored. So we can have those progress bars and the user is "crowned" with the donation crown on his detailpage and forum. This I would also like to see with flattr. To post flattrbutton at specific items, and when a user flattrs it, flattr will tell us for what it was (donation item id, and how much it was [when it was transferred monthly], end tells us what transaction/username it was) to give this user a crown. Flattr is a fine service (after your decision to accept content creators) and now this handshaking could also be nice to include users a little better in such projects like ours. I'm no code, but if you like, I will send this messega via boinc-dev emaillist. I think they could help and perhaps other projects have some thoughts of their own. So, what do you think? Could this handshaking be possible with flattr? Andreas http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/PayPalDonations *Reply from: Marie Axelsson at 2011-09-14 13:12 * Hi again! Any API, integration and so on related questions would be welcomed there. If you want to get hold of the API you can do so here: https://flattr.com/support/api But note that we're currently reworking the REST APi, in a while. I think it's better that we discuss this with one of the developers, will be one less circle to hoop through. Not sure we'll be able to have the system running as you wish in the near future though. Since each project you want people to be able to support can get their own buttons, it will make sure that you know where money is going. Not sure how automated it will or can be, yet. Should I continue this conversation with one of your devs? cheers - Marie *Reply from: aerospaceresearch.net at 2011-09-14 22:59 * Hi Marie, thanks for your offer. I would sugest, that you will use http://boinc.berkeley.edu/email_lists.php and register to dev and ask there. In the meantime, I will copy-n-paste our discussion and will send it via emaillist. I'm not a developer, I'm a project owner and wouldn't like to decide for all projects. And it should be a solution that you can use for more than boinc projects :).
