That sort of depends on how many items are in the count. If the "average" moved 1% of the difference between current DCF and the new value, then a few really short tasks would not matter much. There was at one time a project for which the typical run time was around 60 seconds. I am not quite certain what happened to that one.

OW, BOINC may download 1000s of tasks that cannot possibly be completed on time.
