Given how BOINC was configured when it was compiled, it looks like it's 
including from the same /usr/include/mysql directory.

../boinc/Makefile:MYSQL_CFLAGS = -I/usr/include/mysql  -DBIG_JOINS=1  
-fno-strict-aliasing   -DUNIV_LINUX -DUNIV_LINUX
