Hi Rom, The number of tags in the BOINC git repo is already quite large and will continue to grow rather quickly, so I propose the following: let's use tag groups. This will allow capable git GUIs and web frontends to use folder structures for displaying tags, making them much more manageable.
Initially I think we should at least use two groups, namely "client_release" and "server_stable". Such tags could look like this: client_release/7.0.38 server_stable/20100908 For "client_release" it might even be useful to add another level or two, like this: client_release/7/0/38 All existing tags should be migrated to the new format which is easy to do since they're all lightweight. What do you think? FYI, you already use a group for "backups".
