I cloned boinc with another computer with ubuntu 10.04 LTS and I have the same behavior. I am using git 1.7.10.4 and git 1.7.0.4 any clue? the directory size is between 106.1 MB and 101.2 MB (maybe different cluster size) and the file number is 3.295 items. I was able to checkout 7.0.58. I was also able to use git archive to create a snapshot of the source tree at version 7.0.58. Although I had to remove the --format and -9 command line parameters (I suspect that has to do with the version of the git client on the machine though).
