I see you are now handling the asserts the way GNOME does and logging them.
That's great.

One wish: add timestamps to the messages. Manager logs are presumably low
volume so the oldest messages in them could be years old from a Manager
version that was new 50 versions ago.  Timestamps would make it easier to
see which messages are related to current Manager version.
