The XCB-related lines in configure.ac produce the following errors on Debian, but not on Scientific Linux.

(25) Checking version of 'autoreconf' >= 258... succeeded. (267) Checking version of 'automake' >= 108... succeeded. (109) Checking version of 'libtoolize' >= 105... succeeded.
