But there is no new hostid on the server and I know of at least one case
where it happened out of the blue, so to say.

It's not that common but if it happens to one of our longer running
tasks (>1000hrs) it's very unsatisfying. The next time it happens with a
user I can contact I'll investigate a bit more.
