I certainly did not mean to imply they should be removed from the wiki, but 
there is value to having them in both places.

What I have been doing for the Mac is to always keep the build instructions up 
to date on the wiki (for the current BOINC version), and also update a copy in 
the GIT master branch of the source tree, so that when each BOINC version is 
tagged in GIT, it has the exact build instructions for that specific version. 

This way, people have correct build instructions not only for the current 
version but also if they want to build an older version.
