Another thing to check is the ability to do RPCs over port 31416, which is the default BOINC port I believe. See if it is getting blocked by some firewall?

In the Win 7 / non standard internet connection / can't connect to client case: Can you see (using Task Manager or similar) whether the client - boinc.exe - is running? If not running, can you find any evidence that it ever started up, or alternatively that it started but crashed? The first and easiest things to look at are the files stdoutdae.txt stderrdae.txt - check the timestamps on the files, as well as the contents. I have *successfuly* tested the official (downloaded from BOINC-download-all page) - *release* *7.8.1 x64 (BETA) under current stable branch (non-insider) of Windows 10 Home x64 ......* * HURRAAAAAY, no major issues detected on Win10! :-)* From those 10 restarts and 2 cold starts (Shut down PC and ON again), it was ALL 12 successful starts on startup of Win10 (eventhough on AMD Ryzen 7 1800X !) - it continues to compute from checkpoints , it never stayed disconnected from the client and it *NEVER has failed any WU*! So, this is really COOL! :-) But, now on vacation I have found *another* completelydifferent bug ... in *7.8.1 x64* , on *Win7*! : - when I am connected to the internet in a special *NON-STANDARD WAY (* for example: using USB-cable to *Android 6.0* phone... using the USB-option (on the phone) "*USB connection*" (they mean *PC to the internet, of course :-) )*... , so I appear to have multiple "LAN" / virtual networks in Windows, then the *Manager will NEVER connect* to the client and the client will *never start the computations!!!* (and it happens in 100 percent of all tries!) .... so, *very well reproducible! :O* Please, *can someone test and confirm this? :-)* *Namaste* Filip _______________________________________________ boinc_dev mailing list boinc_dev@ssl.berkeley.edu https://lists.ssl.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/boinc_dev To unsubscribe, visit the above URL and (near bottom of page) enter your email address. _______________________________________________ boinc_alpha mailing list boinc_al...@ssl.berkeley.edu https://lists.ssl.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/boinc_alpha To unsubscribe, visit the above URL and (near bottom of page) enter your email address. _______________________________________________ boinc_dev mailing list boinc_dev@ssl.berkeley.edu https://lists.ssl.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/boinc_dev To unsubscribe, visit the above URL and (near bottom of page) enter your email address.
