LIVERPOOL, England (AFP) - Experienced Dutch winger Boudewijn Zenden signed for
Champions League holders Liverpool from Premiership rivals Middlesbrough on a
free transfer.
The 28-year-old 53-times capped Dutchman agreed personal terms and passed a
medical, and will complete the move on Monday.
The former Barcelona and Chelsea star - who was influential in Boro's League
Cup winning campaign in the 2003-04 season - will be eligible for Liverpool's
Champions League qualification campaign on July 13.

Zenden joined Middlesbrough on a permanent basis last summer after a successful
season on loan from Chelsea.

"Bolo Zenden has passed his medical," said Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton.

"We have reached an agreement with the player and expect the contract to be
signed on Monday morning.

"He will then be introduced at a press conference later that afternoon."
Zenden spent three years at Barcelona after making his name at PSV Eindhoven
before moving to Chelsea for 7.5million pounds in 2001 but was never a
permanent fixture in the side making just 43 Premiership appearances in three
years there.
