Carling Cup New Talent award The nominations for this season's Carling Cup New Talent award have been decided. The six players are Arsenal's Arturo Lupoli, Manchester United's Guiseppe Rossi, Crystal Palace's Ben Watson, Newcastle United's Charles N'Zogbia, Aston Villa's Steve Davis and Charlton's Jerome Thomas. Lupoli is an 18-year-old Italian striker who has made two appearances in the competition so far this season, scoring once. He has yet to make his league debut but has impressed in the reserves this campaign with 12 goals in nine appearances. Rossi, another 18-year-old Italian striker, scored on his Premiership debut after coming on as a substitute at Sunderland, and also scored in the last round of the Carling Cup. Watson came to prominence last season when he made 16 appearances in The Premiership and has now become a first-team regular. The 20-year-old midfielder's impressive form has also seen him receive a call up to the England Under-21 side. N'Zogbia broke into the Newcastle team last season after signing from French side Le Havre. The 19-year-old French winger has now become a regular in the first-team, making 10 starts in the league this term and scoring twice. Davis has been one of the bright spots in Villa's disappointing start to the campaign. The 20-year-old Northern Ireland international became a regular starter during the second half of last season and has been an ever present in the league this term. Thomas' impressive form for Charlton this season has seen him win England Under-21 honours. The 22-year-old moved to Charlton from Arsenal in February 2004 after seeing his first-team opportunities limited at Highbury. The winner will be voted for by supporters, and presented with their trophy on the day of the final - February 26, 2006
