FINNAN: UNITED LOSS INSPIRED
Liverpool full-back Steve Finnan admitted the news of Manchester United's
defeat to rivals Manchester City inspired them to victory over Spurs. But the
Irish defender now concedes that with a two-game advantage and only one point
to make up on second-placed United, they cannot afford to waste the opportunity
of a win at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Finnan said: "Hearing that United had already lost before we played Spurs
gave us a real boost. Now it is set up nicely when we play United at the
weekend. "But we have to go there, play as well as we can and win. But the way
we are playing there is no reason we cannot win there and take over second spot
in the Premiership."
