Rafael Benitez believes Sunday's clash with Chelsea at Stamford
Bridge will be a good test of his team's credentials.
The Liverpool manager always looks to the next game and will never
talk about challenging for the title. His main concern is to see his
team continue to improve their level of performance each week and
continue to close the gap at the top of the Premiership to Chelsea.
Benitez admitted to being a very frustrated manager after the 1-1
draw with Birmingham City and felt it was a game Liverpool should
have won.
"We have one more point than Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal
but two more would have been better for us," admitted Benitez.
"Chelsea will be a very difficult game but I am only thinking about
three points and seeing my team continue to improve and close the gap
on them. I always look to the next game and prefer not to talk about
the league table.
"Apart from the match when we made some mistakes and lost 4-1, games
between ourselves and Chelsea have been decided by just the one goal.
That is because both teams have a lot of good players and play at a
similar level.
"I would like to see a good game with a lot of opportunities and
possibilities for us to score. One goal or one mistake could decide
the game as the small details always make a big difference."
