Sementara Arsenal, dengan pasukan mudanya (saat lawan Bolton paling nggak ada 7 pemain di bawah 23 dan lawan Liverpool ada 5 pemain U-23), belum kembali menjadi tim dengan kekuatan yang disegani, tapi nampak cukup menjanjikan, terutama saat main lawan Bolton dan Birmingham. Jelang Pool vs United, United udah punya modal keuntungan fisik yang lebih segar dan permainan Liverpool yang udah terekam dengan baik di benak Sir Alex (yang terus mengikuti perkembangan permainan Liverpool, malah saat partai Pool vs Arsenal dan Chelsea beliau ikut nonton langsung lho).
