SHEVA SAYS GOOD-BYE TO MILAN

July 1, 1999 - May 26, 2006: Sheva's reign has lasted almost seven
years. The Ukrainian striker has gone from rising young star to a
complete champion and won over the hearts of all Rossoneri followers.
However, all good things must come to an end and although Milan tried
everything to hold on to Sheva, it is English that has won out in the
end. It's not like Wembley 1963 or Manchester forty years later but a
change in language and environment that has triumphed. Milan and its
fans can take comfort in the memories Andriy has left behind: his
first goal at Lecce, the volley in front of president Berlusconi
against Galatasaray in the Champions League, his first hat-trick,
against Lazio, the two consecutive seasons as Serie A top-scorer, the
penalty at Manchester, the header in the European Super Cup, the list
goes on and on. The most recent memory is of the goal disallowed at
the Nou Camp but for the former European Footballer of the Year the
good times outweigh the bad and the 173 goals for Milan leave us all

SHEVA: 'Thank-you, Milan'

Andriy Shevchenko has said good-bye to Milan after seven seasons as a
Rossoneri. After a long meeting, Andriy Shevchenko and Adriano
Galliani held a press conference in the trophy room at the club's Via
Turati headquarters. Andriy had this to say: 'I'm leaving for family
reasons, I want to thank the club for what they have done for me,
there is no problem in terms of relationship and this isn't about money.'
Adriano Galliani said: 'It was a victory for the English language over
the Italian one. I did all that I could do to convince him to stay.
This is the most difficult separation since I have been at Milan. We
will now start negotiations with Chelsea, but they won't be easy.
