scorer spt Forlan.
Ruud's £12m Real move imminent

RUUD van Nistelrooy is set to complete a move to Real Madrid in the next 48
hours.

The deal moved forwards after United reluctantly backed down from their
original £15m valuation, and Real's director of sport Predrag Mijatovic will
travel to Manchester to tie up the £12m signing.

It had become clear that the striker had no future at Old Trafford after a
training ground incident with Cristiano Ronaldo incurred the wrath of manager
Sir Alex Ferguson.

"It's no surprise, really, that he asked to go," said Fergie. "But when you see
that Andriy Shevchenko went to Chelsea for £30m, he's a similar age to Ruud and
their record in Europe is almost identical, so you can absolutely guarantee
that we're not going to give Ruud away."

Once the van Nistelrooy deal goes through, Fergie will be in a position to step
us his chase for Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres. The World Cup star
has a £41m buy-out clause in his contract at the Spanish club, but United
officials are confident that they can land the 22-year-old for considerably
less.

And the United boss also fuelled speculation that the Reds may look to bring
Patrick Vieira, formerly of Arsenal, back to the Premiership following the
relegation of Italian giants Juventus.

He said: "Everybody will be looking at all the Juventus players, no question
about that.

"Buffon, Zambrotta, Cannavaro, Thuram, Emerson and Vieira are the ones that
people will be focusing on, because there's some element that suggests that
players could maybe have free transfers if they were going outside of Italy.

"We're talking to several clubs, but obviously the Italian situation has given
us a different avenue.

"We have held a lot of things back until we knew what the Juventus situation
was. Now we know where we're going in terms of making definite inquiries."

Thanks & God Bless You
