Another Quiet Mid Season Break For Liverpool [image: Liverpool Football
Club badge]When news broke over the weekend of the loutish behaviour
displayed by some of Liverpool Football
Club<http://worldsoccer.about.com/od/englishpremiership/p/liverpoolfc.htm>'s
senior players while on a mid season break in Portugal there was little
surprise at some of the names of the main culprits involved.

John Arne Riise's run in with Craig Bellamy at a karaoke bar supposedly
turned from a near brawl into a midnight game of kneecap golf as Bellamy
burst into the Norwegian's hotel room brandishing a golf club and
threatening to do untold damage to his teammate's legs. Reports that he had
actually struck the defender with the club have since been denied but that
won't be the end of the matter for either player with Bellamy's neck (or
lack thereof) on the summer transfer chopping block.

Reliving his "Spice Boy" glory days of the mid 1990s was old stager Robbie
Fowler who, despite having seemed to calm down in his older age, still
managed to go on a rampage of his own with former jailbird Jermaine Pennant
and reserve goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek in their Portuguese resort and were only
brought under control by several van loads of armed Portuguese riot police.

The heavily inebriated Dudek had tried to start a brawl with one of the
policemen he came into contact with and after being subdued reportedly kept
telling the bastion of law and order how much he loved him in an effort to
avoid to being arrested.

Barely a fortnight after
Liverpool<http://worldsoccer.about.com/od/englishpremiership/p/liverpoolfc.htm>'s
new American owners took charge, manager Rafa Benitez has had to go on
bended knee and apologise to them for the antics of their overpaid
"superstars" and has swiftly dished out internal punishments totalling
hundreds of thousands of pounds in fines. For some it's only the tip of the
iceberg though as they face an uncertain future at the club and are in real
danger of being discarded completely come the summer transfer window.
