Man United v Chelsea FA Cup final on cards

Premiership heavyweights Manchester United and Chelsea could be set for a
dramatic FA Cup final meeting at the new Wembley Stadium after being kept apart
in the semi-final draw.

Both teams must overcome tricky replays before confirming their place in
the last four with Chelsea meeting Tottenham at White Hart Lane and United
facing Middlesbrough at home.

Blackburn will play the winner of Chelsea against Spurs and the top
flight's bottom club Watford have been drawn against United or Boro.

The ties will be played on the weekend of April 14, 15. Venues are to be
announced.

Blackburn chairman John Williams insisted he was pleased to have been
drawn against Chelsea or Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Rovers made it through to the last four with yesterday's 2-0 victory over
Manchester City at Ewood Park.

Williams told Sky Sports: 'We are happy. You take what comes - if you are
going to win it you have to beat everyone along the way.'

Williams also insisted Rovers deserved their place in the semis having
already disposed of Everton, Luton, Arsenal and City.

'We played well (against City). We restricted City to very few attempts
and deserved to win,' he added.

'We've had a hard run so we deserve to be there and let's hope we can go
one better.'

Williams admitted it had been hard to watch Sunday's game.

'It's difficult that one. I don't quite enjoy it as much as I used to
years ago but it's always great to win,' he said.

'I'm not a good loser - no-one at the club is. Mark Hughes certainly
isn't.

'It's a rollercoaster and football is a great business when you are
winning games and uncomfortable when you are not.'

Rovers midfielder Robbie Savage, currently out with a broken leg, said:
'Some of the boys said we thought we wouldn't get Watford and Watford would
have probably liked Blackburn as well, to be honest.'

The Welshman also refused to name a favourite for the quarter-final
replay that will determine Rovers' opponents in the last four.

'It could be Chelsea or it could be Tottenham - Tottenham played superbly
well and should have won the game.

'But we'll give it a good go and whoever it is, with the way we've been
playing, we'll think we can beat them.

'It's not the best draw for the neutral, we'll be the underdogs.

'But it's not all about Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham -
Blackburn and Watford are there and one of those teams could get to the final.

'The final would be a massive thing for whoever gets there.'

Watford chief executive Mark Ashton insisted the Hornets were 'delighted'
to be in the semi-finals although their joy will be tempered by the news that
goalkeeper Ben Foster would be unable to face his parent club Manchester United
should they win through.

Ashton said: 'Any draw in the semi-final is a good draw and we're
delighted to be there.

'It's fair to say we are the team everyone wanted to play. we are
delighted to be there and will be giving it our all.'

However, with Foster on a season-long loan from Old Trafford, Ashton
revealed: 'We have an agreement with Manchester United that Ben wouldn't play
in any competition this season, so as far as we are aware that will stand.'

Ashton did, though, insist the Hornets would provide stiff opposition for
whoever they faced after grinding out a 1-0 win on Sunday at Plymouth to
progress.

'Yesterday was a typical FA Cup tie, it was a hard performance and I
think the lads did really well. The result was fantastic.'

Ashton was adamant the Hertfordshire club would still prefer to claim
Premiership safety rather than win the cup.

'Every performance has been very competitive this season.

'We are extremely hard to beat every time we play. The cup has been no
different.

'The league always has to come first. We have a winning mentality.'
