Catania arrange Japanese tour 20-Jun-2007
Italian Serie A side Catania will tour Japan for the first time and
play three friendly matches against J-League teams in July and August,
organisers said on Tuesday.
Catania, who finished 13th in the Italian top flight last season, will meet
Yokohama FC on 30 July, Jubilo Iwata on 1 August and finally JEF United
Chiba on 5 August.
The touring team will include 19-year-old Japanese striker Takayuki
Morimoto, although he has been sidelined after surgery on his injured left
knee in March.
Morimoto, who played for Japan in the FIFA World Youth Championship
Netherlands 2005, is the youngest player ever to score in the J-League
having found the net just days before his 16th birthday.
On loan from J-League second division club Tokyo Verdy, he has extended his
stay at Catania after his one-year deal with the Italian side expired.
