Roma Land Cicinho For 11M
The transfer market surrounding Real Madrid has moved into overdrive, with
news filtering through that AS Roma have landed Cicinho for a deal worth "up
to" 11 million euros.
Cicinho, 27, moved to Real Madrid from Sao Paulo in January 2006 for a fee
of 4 million euros, and after a reasonable start, had most of last season
ruined by a knee ligament injury.
He has failed to find a place for himself in Bernd Schuster's plans, and
been left out of the squad ever since he publicly criticised the coach for
being played at left-back.
Roma have been after him since, with bids rising from 5 million euros to 8
million last week.
Real Madrid decided to put their foot down on Monday, but a fresh offensive
from Roma sporting director Daniele Prade - who travelled to Madrid on
Wednesday evening - has seen the Giallorossi strike a 9 million euro deal,
though they may have to pay 2 million more based on performance and result
related clauses.
Los Merengues have just signed Gabriel Heinze and Arjen Robben during the
last 12 hours, and have decided to cash in on the Brazilian upon Roma and
the player's continued insistence.

Real Madrid CF have reached an agreement with AS Roma for the transfer of
Cicero Joao de Cezare "Cicinho" to the Italian Club. Real Madrid wish to
thank the Brazilian for his work at the Club and wish him the best of luck
in his career.
Cicinho will travel to Rome today, and put pen to paper on a five year deal
after completing a medical. He will be available for Sunday's game against
Palermo.
