I'd like to see France field a team without African-born players, Luxemburg
could probably beat them then. All that tough talk and they are nothing
without their 'imported' Africans.

no one is criticizing france for having black players it's because most of
their players arent even born in france. hey if spain followed their example
they would have a team full of south Americans...

Sure, many of the players are born in, or have African ancestry but to say
France cannot raise its own footballers is completely wrong. They have all
come through French football academies and French clubs, at least at youth
level. Some probably have enough natural skill to have made it to the elite
even if they were still in their native country but I doubt that all of them
would have been as successful as they are now. They might have come from
Africa, but France made them footballers.

I agree with Rodolfo and Mike, but i disagree about raising own players,
France have great players but the coaches don't recognize them just to name
a few: Phillip Mexes(Roma), Pascal Cygan(Villarreal), Laurent
Robert(X-Newcastle), Johan Micoud(Bordeaux), Jerome Rothen(PSG), Pedretti,
Johan Gourcuff(Milan).

Other countries should import Africans then! Africans sparkle in leagues the
world over but have failed to impress themselves on the world stage. So give
credit to France for giving them that extra finess. I think the world cup
was a fluke for Italy, France will woop you on saturday.

france does have a few good France born players, like henry,
saha(paris),anelka (versalilles), sagnol, ribery, pedretti, coupet,
squallaci (somwhere, france), and had zidane (marsielle). Though i agrre
players like viera should be playing for sengal, and the likes of thruam,
makalele, gallas etc. Where your born you play, unless borders changed or
something i.e czechslovakia, i think the home grown talent is ill
appreciated in france, its not nurtered enough, i dont mean france would
naturally be as strong as they are with onyl pure frenchies but they do have
a decent set of footballers. By the way im no frenchy so dont attack me, i
actually admire italy's selection of almost all domestic players, too few
countreis commit to to such polocies where good footballers may be left out
if the play abroad (miccoli, maresca, cassano).

dude the african players are french raised and taught their trade in france!
Its great that the best players play for the team and they happen to be of
african origin mostly. Its like saying the american team should play with
native indians bcos all the whites are from Europe actually! you guys make
no sense

lassana, diany, anelka??? pfff i'd hardly call them first 11, and out of
24-25 plays only 5-6 of them are french pff pathetic. oh and italy has
plenty of people of italian decent in the world, for example counties like
uruguay, argentina, brazil have lots of people of italian decent yet i dont
see italy importing them and making excuses. think before you open ur mouth
carcal the foul

It is not important where they are born as they have to qualify under EUFA
guidelines. Also please do not label the whole team or country for that
matter, upon what a coach and disoriented player has said. Other team mates
such as Henry have come forward claiming that their coaches views is exactly
that ...his views. I wish for a good and entertaining game but I know that
my beloved Azzurri will be on top. Forza!

Nice try, USA

Jake thats not like having the american team play with all native indians at
all hahaha. Yeah the american players may not native indian backround...but
most were born in the country. The argument being made is not enough of the
players on the France team are born in France lol.
