De Rossi One Of Best In World – Mijatovic
Real Madrid director of sports Predrag Mijatovic has admitted that he
would love to sign Daniele De Rossi for the Spanish giants, and says
that the Roma star if one of the best players in the world for his position.
De Rossi grabbed a lot of the headlines on Tuesday night when he put in
a man-of-the-match performance for Italy in the Euro 2008 victory over
France.
The 24-year-old centre midfielder had surprisingly missed the drubbing
to Holland in matchday one, but the Azzurri have looked far stronger
after he played the final two matches of the group.
"I was very surprised not to see him play in the first game against the
Netherlands,” Mijatovic told ANSA.
“I believe that in his role he is one of the best in the world.
"I have good relations with [Roma transfer chief] Daniele Pradè, I do
not think they want to let him leave, at least this is my impression."
Mijatovic also offered his view on this Sunday’s Euro 2008 quarter final
between Spain and Italy, and he thinks that the Azzurri will emerge
victorious.
"The Azzurri, after a difficult start, came back to play as they know,
and they are a very competitive team. I think there is a little fear in
the Spanish national team," the former striker, who played for both
Madrid and Fiorentina, stated.
"Personally I would have preferred if Spain were playing another opponent.”
