By IAN McGARRY Published: Today BIG PHIL SCOLARI has warned his dopey Chelsea stars to wake up - or risk blowing their Premier League title hopes. The Blues boss tore into his team for getting caught cold at home to Manchester United yesterday. Scolari blamed his players' inability to adapt to the loss of Deco from the starting line-up after he was injured in the warm-up. Chelsea allowed United to take an 18th-minute lead through Park Ji Sung as they failed to respond to the visitors' onslaught. Michael Ballack replaced Portuguese ace Deco to start his first match since suffering a foot injury last month - but Scolari was not happy. The Chelsea gaffer said: "When we lost Deco it affected our transition from midfield to attack in the start of the game. "We were not ready. United played well, exploited it and deserved the lead." Scolari read his troops the riot act at half-time and sent on Didier Drogba for the second half. Chelsea's constant pressure paid off when Salomon Kalou equalised 10 minutes from time. But Big Phil was still angry about the missed chances. Nicolas Anelka was the worst offender, failing to connect with Joe Cole's cross when he was only four yards out. And Scolari admitted he will take a look at the partnership between him and Drogba before judging it. He said: "I have tried for the last two weeks in training to play Drogba and Anelka together but it's difficult. "They played two or three games together last season and I will need to assess it over the next few days." Although Chelsea failed to replace Arsenal at the top of the Premier League, United slipped to 15th, despite the point gained. Scolari, though, dismissed suggestions this result would have any great bearing on the destination of the title. He said: "We have not just Chelsea or United competing. We have five or six teams and maybe after 20 games, one or two teams will be four or five points in front. At the moment it is impossible to tell the difference." Sir Alex Ferguson was pleased with the point and admitted the result was the right one. He said: "We played with great tempo in the first 20 minutes. "The real shame was we didn't go for the jugular at 1-0 up. "We had control of the match at that point but eased off and allowed them to get to half-time. "Drogba came on and gave us a different kind of threat. He is big and aggressive and made it more difficult for us physically. "We had players out there who are still trying to get to the pace of the game - Park, Berbatov, Hargreaves, Ronaldo, Neville - and, maybe, we lost a bit of energy because of that. "We started to tire and give the ball away. We allowed Chelsea to get it in key positions. "The defenders did very well, apart from a couple of chances Chelsea had in each half." Scolari will wait until Deco and Ricardo Carvalho have scans today before he will have any idea how long they will be out for. Carvalho appeared to injure his left knee while Deco withdrew with an ankle injury. And United hope Edwin van der Sar will recover from a knee knock he suffered in the first half.
