Correct. Since the smaller markup is now >> rather than --, I didn't need a
special syntax for the dash, as -- can just be used normally.
If you want -- to convert to – just add this line to a config page:

MarkUp('style', 'dash', '/--/', '–');

P.S. Thanks for checking out the recent upgrade. I apologize for the change
in syntax. I wish we could have thought of this solution before switching to
3.xx. Still, it's nice to finally escape the -- problem!!!
